Personal reasons for termination are those based on the employee’s personal abilities and characteristics, which are generally beyond the employee’s control (e.g. illness, lack of work permit). A dismissal for personal reasons is effective if contractual or operational interests are significantly impaired, there is a negative prognosis for the future, no less severe means than dismissal are available and the employer’s interest in the dismissal ultimately prevails in the context of a weighing of interests.
